Full-Stack Web Developer – Social Good (Client-Facing)

Use your powers for good as a full-stack web developer at Marketing for Change Co., a research and creative agency exclusively focused on inspiring positive behaviors. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in PHP back-end development and front-end coding with an interest in growing their skills and leadership abilities alongside a highly collaborative team.

We are seeking a sharp and passionate developer to help our growing in-house development team create transformative digital experiences. Your work will not be focused on selling products or boosting consumption, but on advancing public health, equity, environmental protection and progressive change.

Founded in 2005, Marketing for Change is a national research and creative agency propelled by behavioral science. Our 30+ professionals — writers, artists, researchers, developers, designers and others — help foundations, nonprofits, governments and companies do good better by harnessing the power of behavioral determinants such as norms, emotion and identity. To work here, there’s also a requirement from which no one is exempt — you must be nice.

Our digital development team works in rapidly changing and diverse environments/tech stacks. We leverage the most modern tools where possible, but also support numerous legacy services. We are always inventing new features and building complex products, so you must be willing to learn new (and old) technologies as needed.

Desired experience:

  • AWS console/cli
  • CI/CD BitBucket Pipelines, Jenkins, etc. (we use BB)
  • Git (we’re on BitBucket)
  • HTML/CSS/JS
  • CSS Preprocessors
  • Bundlers (Webpack, Rollup, etc.)
  • Node, NPM, JavaScript ES6
  • Bootstrap/JQuery
  • MySQL and/or other relational databases
  • PHP and frameworks (Laravel, WordPress), Composer
  • Docker and docker compose
  • Server admin/*nix CLI
  • Serverless concepts, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway
  • (Nice to have) Experience and comfort in DevOps to assist in maintaining and improving the infrastructure

Some of the perks:

  • Nice co-workers (really, we only hire nice people)
  • Work that makes the world a better place
  • Environment that encourages professional growth
  • A fun and friendly work culture built around doing inspiring work because we all believe real change requires behavior change
  • A comprehensive benefits package including vacation, sick and holiday leave
  • A range of health plans including PPO and HSA healthcare, as well as dental, disability and life insurance

Salary commensurate with experience, with an expected range of $55,000–$85,000.
